Show system data

In OSLO, there are several commands whose only purpose is to display constructional data of the system under study. Although many of the data can be observed on the various spreadsheets, the Show menu allows you to display a listing in the text output window that can be used for hard copy output.

  1. Open the lens demotrip.len in your public lens directory.
  2. Click Show >> Surface Data and select the All data option. Then click OK. A listing of the surface data appears in the text window.

  7 IMAGE SURFACE

The remaining commands on the Show menu, with the exception of lens and element drawings, work similarly to the Surface data command. The auxiliary data command has a submenu that computes several ancillary quantities related to the lens data, such as edge thickness and surface sag. The edge thickness command has more general use than just computing the edge thickness, since the distance from the axis of the points between which the measurement is made can be independently set, as can the beginning and ending surfaces. This means that the command can be used to determine spacer thicknesses, or sag tables for a single surface.
