OSLO is continually updated to accommodate new computer and optical design technology. The computational routines in the program have been developed using nearly 25 years of experience, but because of the increasingly wide use of OSLO for new and unusual design tasks, sometimes issues arise that require workarounds or program modification. If you encounter a problem of this type, please let us know about it using email.
Most issues concerning OSLO support concern lack of understanding or misunderstanding in one of four areas:
This section is primarily concerned with the first two of the above areas. If you have a problem related to the third area, please consult the Learning section of this web site, or the references cited there. For problems concerning the fourth area, please consult your local computer guru, or Microsoft Corporation.
Answers to most questions concerning OSLO and CCL are contained in the regular program documentation, which includes both the OSLO help system and the electronic book "Optical Design using OSLO". These are independent sources of information. Specific information about OSLO or CCL is contained in the help system, while more general discussion of principles and algorithms in presented in the book.
Because OSLO is designed to be an "open" program, many companies and individuals have contributed data and commands that enhance the usefulness of OSLO for special tasks. Most of these contributions are included with the program CD itself, but updates and additions can be downloaded from this section of the web site. If you have data or a command that you would like to contribute, please contact Lambda Research.
